AI engineer
Make AI part of how Fluent itself works: how we deliver, how we support clients and the tools we build, so our people spend their time on the work that needs them.
About the role
We say AI should do the grunt work so people can do the relationships. This role makes that true inside Fluent first. You'll find the hours our own team loses to repeat work, in delivery, support and the business behind them, and build the agents and automations that hand those hours back.
It's a builder's role with a lot of room. You'll work across our own Salesforce, the platforms we run on and FG Toolkit, our product, where AI features are on the roadmap. What you build for us becomes how we work, and the best of it becomes what we take to clients.
What you would be doing
- Find where our own team's time goes, and decide what's worth automating first
- Build agents, automations and internal tools that people here actually use every day
- Help build the AI features in FG Toolkit, from prototype to running in production
- Set up how we use AI safely: what it can touch, what a person checks, how we measure it
- Keep the team current on what's changed and what's worth trying, without the hype
- Show the work, so what we learn in-house shapes what we offer clients
What we are after
- A track record of shipping AI into real use, not just demos: agents, automations or LLM-backed tools
- Strong hands-on engineering in at least one modern stack, plus comfort with APIs and integrations
- Working knowledge of the major model platforms and where each one fits
- The judgement to pick the boring solution when it's the right one
- Enough curiosity about how a consultancy runs to spot the problems nobody has raised
Nice, not necessary
- Salesforce, Agentforce or Data Cloud experience
- Work with the Anthropic, OpenAI or Google APIs
- Experience building a product, not just projects
The part people find hardest
Nobody hands you a brief. The opportunities are everywhere and most of them are small, so the job is choosing what matters, shipping it, and getting a busy team to change how they work. If you need a defined backlog to feel productive, this will be uncomfortable.
How we hire
A conversation, not a screen
A phone or video call with our HR team. We'll talk through the role, the client mix and the parts of the job people find hardest.
Meet the team
A couple of people you would work alongside. It's your chance to see if it feels right, and ask the questions you didn't ask on the first call.
Offer, and references
We move within a week of the last conversation. References at the end, only with your say-so, and never to your current employer without asking.
