Data and analytics consultant
Turn the numbers a leadership team argues about into numbers it can trust, then make them arrive without anyone building a spreadsheet.
About the role
Most clients don't have a reporting problem. They have a definition problem: four teams counting revenue four ways, and a monthly meeting spent reconciling instead of deciding.
You work out what each measure actually means, get the business to agree on one version, then build the model and the reporting that makes the agreed version the easy one to use. Some of that's Salesforce reporting, some is Data Cloud, some is a warehouse and a dashboard, and choosing between them is part of the role.
What you would be doing
- Run definition workshops, and get a decision rather than a document
- Design the data model that supports the reporting, not just the input screens
- Build reports, dashboards and the data quality checks behind them
- Assess and improve data quality honestly, including telling a client how bad it is
- Set up the governance so the definitions hold after we leave
- Work with the engineers on what needs to move and when
What we are after
- Three or more years in analytics, business intelligence or data consulting
- Salesforce reporting and dashboards to a genuinely advanced level
- SQL, and a modelling habit
- The facilitation skill to get four executives to one definition
- Scepticism about a number that looks too good
Nice, not necessary
- Data Cloud, CRM Analytics or Tableau
- dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery or similar
- Any experience with regulated reporting
The part people find hardest
The definitions. The technical build is rarely the constraint; getting a room of senior people to give up their own version of a number is, and it can take weeks. If you need the satisfaction of a finished build every sprint, this role will frustrate you.
How we hire
A conversation, not a screen
A phone or video call with our HR team. We'll talk through the role, the client mix and the parts of the job people find hardest.
Meet the team
A couple of people you would work alongside. It's your chance to see if it feels right, and ask the questions you didn't ask on the first call.
Offer, and references
We move within a week of the last conversation. References at the end, only with your say-so, and never to your current employer without asking.
